We propose an alternative, in which you’ll overlook Madrid from the heights
Imagine floating in the air as if you were inside a soap bubble, as in a dream. As in the Jules Verne’s stories, it is possible to cross the sky of Madrid. A so amazing as relaxing feeling, free from fear or strong impressions, wrapped in the early morning light and sounds...
We need to wake up early. We start at eight o’clock, because it is the time of day when the wind is more stable. The flights leave from areas that fulfill requirements for altitude, wind and certain space. Aerodifusión operator, with over 25 years of experience, is the only one that takes off from the mall and leisure center Madrid Xanadú. While also flies from Villanueva de la Cañada -on the area of the Regional Park of Guadarrama- and Aranjuez –in a flight that passes over the entire town of Aranjuez, a World Heritage Site-, for groups of more than four people.
The duration of the flight is one hour and it is done at about 300 meters high. At that point, temperature, contrary to what might be thougth, it is somewhat higher than on land, so it is not necessary to take any special clothing. It is recommended, however, to bring a hat or something to cover your head and a comfortable clothing and shoes, such as those used for a stroll through the countryside.
Also, the organizers advise not to forget the camera, as the view from the balloon is great. An experience reserved for birds and other privileged few.
Looking for a place to land
The landing is made at different selected points, depending on the location of where it has being the takeoff and the wind direction. Thus, the flights leaving Madrid Xanadú could land at Navalcarnero, Casarrubias, or El Álamo.
The duration of the whole activity is about three hours, which includes balloon bloating, boarding, the flight, landing, balloon collection, a toast with champagne, going back to the place of departure and the presentation of a diploma
The fact is that, once the flight is finished, a small picnic or a toast is held, as commanded tradition. And, once back at the scene of the takeoff, the organizers hand a diploma to participants that credits the Balloon Flight: proof that you have overflown the town in a ballooning.
Those who have already been able to enjoy the experience are always surprised by the smoothness of the flight in a balloon. Security in this activity is guaranteed; first because flights are always carried out in the company of accredited professionals: among Aerodifusión pilots can be found winners of the European Balloon Festival, participants at Rallye Dackar, Tanzania Balloon Shani, ex air traffic controllers... And, secondly, because the activity is covered by an insurance policy, according to the Air Navigation Act.
However, the flights are subject to weather conditions. Therefore, you are requested to contact the balloon flights company you’ve contracted the previous day to confirm that the weather will be favorable and that the flight is going to be made. Otherwise, you can postpone the citation or request a refund for the money.
On the other hand, the activity is not recommended to people suffering from heart problems, bone problems, overweight or pregnants. The company reserves the right to refuse admission towards the security of those who carry out the flights.
